TESTIMONIALS

JOSÉ PADILHA
Film Director

I’ve know Felipe for over 20 years. He’s a faithful long time collaborator.

Very few people in the industry are able to conduct the storytelling the way Felipe does. I had the privilege of working with him in many projects and profited a lot from his keen and sharp eye and his extreme sensibility for emotions. The documentaries we worked on have been widely recognized and took part in festivals like Tribeca, Sundance, CPH:DOX, Havana, Rotterdam and many others.

His role as the co-director of our “Bus 174”, a film that won many prizes around the world, including the Emmy and the Peabody, was invaluable. Felipe has this amazing capacity of understanding complex scenarios and for extracting from them what are the best stories for the screen. His ability to maintain fresh eyes, from the first glimpse through the last review is truly impressive.

As a director, editor or consultant Felipe can be fundamental talent in any production that aims for the top. It’s been great working with Felipe and and we’ll sure partner up very soon again.

BEADIE FINZI
Director of “Only When I Dance”, producer of”The Opposition” and “The Possibilities Are Endless”

I just wanted to write and tell you how much I haveenjoyed working with you these past weeks. For the first time in years, I felt like I was learning something in an edit. It was provocative and creative and really interesting.  So thank you. The film is without question 100% better for all your input.

ESTEBAN RAMIREZ
Director of “Gestación”, “Caribe” and “Imprisoned”

Felipe was the editor who gave me the most incredible and unimaginable proposals! He has a great ability to conquer something fundamental in the film editing, which is to bring emotions.

CARLOS SALDANHA
Director of Ferdinand, Rio and The Ice Age

I had the pleasure of working with Felipe in the short film Pas-de-Deux, a segment of Rio, I Love You, that I directed. He got me very well recommended by weight names in the Brazilian market and did a beautiful job. Felipe understood my vision and execution with great sensitivity and mastery. I’m sure that anyone who has had the good fortune to have Felipe on board, as editor or consultant, will see his film to its full potential.

WALTER SALLES
Academy Award Nominee,Golden Globe and Berlin’s Golden Bear Winner,Director of “Central Station”, “Motorcycle Diaries”and “On The Road”

I had the pleasure of collaborating with Felipe in several other projects (musical documentaries, fiction projects). I have great admiration for your ability to think a movie, and to re-imagine it from the footage. In the same way, the always original options he proposes for the narrative always surprise me positively. He is a highly committed contributor who helps to empower the projects with which he is involved.

JOSÉ RODRIGUES
Director, documentary programs at Tribeca Film Institute

I met Felipe Lacerda when we brought him onboard to be a filmmaker mentor at the 2014 TFI Sao Paulo Filmmaker Workshop, in Brazil. He was instrumental in providing the participating workshop filmmakers the chance to understand the scope and reach of a documentary film, as he screened clips of his films and consulted one-on-one with each Brazilian participant. He catered his master class not just from a director/filmmaker standpoint, but also from the perspective of an editor who knows to maximize a story’s potential and present the deep access that he/she has secured. Throughout his career up to this point, he has demonstrated a thoughtfulness on a wide array of issues and topics, and he has always been available to make himself useful to other, more emerging storytellers hoping to reach the same breadth of projects as he has. If TFI ends up planning another workshop in Brazil in the near future, we would love to bring him onboard once more and have him instill in the participants very crucial knowledge and information about filmmakers’ balance of social issue and art in the documentary landscape.

Works remotely or in-house, anywhere in the world.
